Finding a Way to Begin
If you are not sure how to start the conversation, you are not alone. Sometimes the first few words feel like the hardest part.
Here are a few gentle ways to begin:
- I’d like to talk with you about something that has been on my mind.
- I would like to tell you more about what this has felt like for me.
- Can we make space to talk? I think it would help me feel more understood.
However you begin, remember that your partner may need time to listen, ask questions, and take it in. These conversations often happen in pieces, and that is okay.
